A little bit about me

I’m Emily M Bradley, LCAT, a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist providing online therapy to individuals in New York State.

The first thing you’ll notice is that I’m very gentle. Walking in the woods, knitting, and relaxing with my cat—there’s nothing more enjoyable for this introvert. Helping you feel as if you’re coming home and kicking off your shoes is my goal here! Sharing a laugh before we get into it is totally OK with me.

I worked for 18 years in psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital in NYC where I helped folks who had just about every kind of issue, and came from every imaginable walk of life, identity, and experience.

One thing I’ve learned over the years: if you’re struggling right now, that just means you’re human. We all need another person to help us heal at one point or another. There are never any judgments, just you bravely digging into the work with me as your trained guide supporting your every step.

I’m an adoption-competent therapist. This means a lot to me because I was adopted.

I’ve been there—having a hard time trusting others, always afraid of losing people, confused about who you are, the whole emotional roller coaster of searching for birth family. It makes a real difference to work with a therapist who is also adopted. Healing through therapy utterly transformed my life and relationships, and I know it can do the same for you!

I combine art therapy with talk therapy techniques and mindfulness practices. I have a masters in art therapy from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and a BFA in painting from Parsons in NYC. I’ve been an artist ever since I was old enough to hold a crayon, and it’s the thing that has gotten me through the challenges of life. So it’s my life’s passion to use the creative process to explore and heal the human condition.

“What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.” —Ralph Waldo Emerson
